When I was a little girl and heading off on my annual holiday from Scotland to Ireland - a large trunk was packed weeks before with all the family's summer clothes and our blue and white rubber beach ball (flattened of course) and our "wellies" just in case. This trunk was picked up by a carrier and by train and boat was sitting in our hotel rooms in Portrush when we arrived. the family then only carried enough luggage for an overnight stay on the boat from Stranraer to Larne! Very sensible arrangement.
I am at the moment trying to pack a suitcase to weigh not more than 20kg with clothes for various climates plus a plethora of pharmacy wears to ensure I don't come down with anything nasty!!!! I really need a separate case for the Handgel, paper tissues, pills in case my stomach can't cope with Yak stew, inhaler in case I get asthma, sun screen, a toilet roll (Asian toilets!!),a small travelling first aid kit, and so the list goes on. I will repack again tomorrow - think I will take T-shirts that can be left behind so that I can bring back "stuff"- this seems the way to solve the problem of keeping within the weight limit, of course, I could wear layers......

I hope you have a wonderful trip! It sounds like you're going to make the trip a memorable one and that's what counts. I might be able to help with some packing suggestions: compression bags can really help with weight depending on what you're packing and packing cubes are fantastic with organization. I use both on every trip we take and we're traveling a lot. Here's a link for you:
